Shutter hardware can make shutters function where they close over the window. Hardware can also make shutters appear to function where they do not close over the window. The same hardware, such as exterior shutter hardware and decorative hardware for shutters, is used for both applications. The only difference is the measuring of the shutters, the offset of the hinges and pintles and the need for a shutter lock or shutter bolt. Whether looking for functional shutter hardware for working shutters or simply for decorative purposes, we can guide you through determining the correct offset. With extensive experience in installing hardware for shutters, we are experts in helping you achieve the perfect combination of form and function.
Every installation begins with a shutter pintle. The pintle is the part of the hinge system that attaches to the house. The shutter hinge will attach to the shutter and will have an eye hole or sleeve that fits on the vertical pin of the pintle. There are various types of shutter pintles including lag pintles, plate pintles and jamb pintles. Each type has an appropriate application. We will help you determine based on your application which pintle type is best.
